This still life work aims to draw attention to the globally concerning issue of protecting the marine ecological environment. During the creative process, I incorporated photographs of discarded items found on the beach—such as plastic water bottles, drink cans, yogurt containers, and fishing nets—into indoor still life compositions through post-production. This creates a sense of temporal and spatial dislocation that strikes directly at the viewer’s heart. The crabs and shrimp entangled in fishing nets, the mud-covered waste abandoned carelessly on the beach… The juxtaposition and substitution of these elements bring a surreal and unsettling tension to the images. Through these scenes, the artist hopes to raise awareness and provoke reflection on the importance of marine ecological protection: While we enjoy the gifts the ocean provides for us, what are we doing in return? The work calls on everyone to take tangible action—starting with ourselves—to protect the marine environment and restore a clean and sustainable home for the ocean.
