Gobi Desert After a Storm

It snowed the day before we arrived at our ger camp in the Gobi Desert. The Altai Mountains in the distance were covered with a white blanket and reminded us of Switzerland. But, we were in Mongolia and the vast Gobi Desert. The threatening clouds promised another snow storm but we were spared. In the far distance, a small herd of horses (or are they camels?) appear. Our visit was on the cusp of the fall-winter transition and we were lucky to experience only a small amount of snow and cold weather. We did delicately pick our way through some snow and ice on our hike the next day but the rest of our visit remained clear and crisp.
