In preparation to the upcoming Durga Puja, an annual festival that celebrates the worship of the Hindu goddess Durga, an artisan is applying finishing touches to the idol. The artisans arrive in the Delhi National Capital Region 2-3months before the festival.The idol makers create figurines out of straw, chaff and clay. The clay idols are then placed in the sun to dry and finished in various stages and finally painted and adorned with accessories and jewellery.
