I captured this image on a cold morning in February, 2022 in the Snaefellsnes Peninsula area of Iceland. It had snowed the night before and as I came around a corner in the road heading toward Kirkjufell and the town of Grundarfjörður, I saw a fishing trawler heading out to sea. The last rays of sunlight were striking Kirkjufell and a storm was moving in, but the fishing trawler was heading out for the day regardless. The trawler also provides scale so that the viewer can comprehend the size and scope of Kirkjufell and the surrounding mountains. This is a rugged, but remarkably beautiful part of Iceland that I love visiting and photographing in the winter.
