Going Solo at 78 Sailing The World
Inspired by "Moby-Dick", at the age of 77, Vittorio Fabris embarked from Venice, with the intention of making a 20,000-mile solo trip around the world. In his sloop, "Mia", he had been at sea for over a year, when he visited Nantucket, a place of inspiration for Melville’s classic novel. His vessel ran aground in Nantucket Sound and was towed to nearby Falmouth Harbor. This photo was taken aboard the "Mia" as he awaited word on the fate of the sloop and prepared to return to Italy by plane.
