The foreground of the image shows the flat-topped hills of orange-brown sandstone in a large area of stark, barren land known as the Upper Blue Hills. In the background is Mount Pennell. I was captured by the sandstone textures and shapes that were enhanced by the golden hour sunlight. The areas that weren't touched by the golden light resemble dry river beds, blood vessels or nerve pathways.
