Golden-Mantled Ground Squirrel Eating Rodent
Squirrels will consume other species of (smaller) rodents when their normal diet lacks specific proteins and other nutrients necessary for optimal health. This Golden-Mantled Ground Squirrel is feeding on what appears to have been a vole or mouse near a waterfall in Crater Lake, Oregon.
