15th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Good things come to those that wait

Cerro Paine Grande the lesser known but much larger relative to Torres Del Paine and Cuernos Del Paine. This peak has only been summited four times. Ever. In the 8 days I was in Patagonia we seldom saw the top. The icy crown it wears and very alpine nature of the its sheer cliffs and large glaciers as it towers over the surrounding landscape gives one a sense of this peaks rugged and extreme nature.
