16th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Grand Canyon, Other Wordly
On a brisk morning in arizona (brisk, Arizona, I know) we got up from our campsite near the northern rim of the Grand Canyon. As we swerved around winding roads excitedly we spoke about what we were about to see, and how long we had craved it. As I stepped to the edge of Point Imperial, my breathe was lost. For as far as my eyes could see was raw, undisturbed Earth. Earth beaming from the ground in masses. Earth showing you it’s power, it’s beauty. I couldn’t help but stare. And smile.
