This is the matriarch of the Lion pride at the San Diego Zoo. We've been to Africa multiple times, and I have lots of animal pictures out on the Serengetti, but the San Diego Zoo offers everyone the opportunity to view these magnificent animals up close and very personal. I tried to make a Portrait shot of this grand lady - a bit gritty and dark, but showing her 'experience' and grandeur as well.
