In this black and white portrait, you see is a presentation about my grandmother Edith Mercado. Behind this image, you can see the purity of my grandmother Edith which can be demonstrated in the way she is sitting. Her pose defines her intimacy and personality a lot, which really catches my attention being that I am her first grandson. She crosses her arms; hands around her body and smile. You can also get a big sense of her shyness as a woman, her connection with the camera tends to be very confident at the same time but unsure about what she's doing in front of it. Having the opportunity to capture this portrait of my grandma was the biggest challenge and blessing ever. I left Puerto Rico at the age of 9 in 2006 since then it had always been rough sharing great moments with her and the rest of the family. There were summers when I flew over back home but it wasn't as special as this one in 2021. Where I got the chance to create this portrait of her.
