Great Blue Heron Basking in the Afternoon Sun was taken as I discovered that a partially obscured heron was hiding down an embankment of the Sacramento River where there was a convenient wooden raft for it to rest upon as it gazed into the water. The afternoon sun was reflecting off its body to really display the beauty of its feathers.
