Great Blue Heron resting in the sun at Fort Casey on Whidbey Island, Washington

Great Blues hunt the fields for small rodents and the shallows of both Crockett Lake and salt water shores of Puget Sound for fish. They aren't really people friendly birds so getting good pictures is often a bit challenging. Fortunately, on this day I was lucky to get close enough to capture this big bird with a 300 mm zoom.
