Great Hornbill posting a snake
Great Hornbills are a large hornbill species. Like most hornbills they nest in tree hollows. The female will spend around 3 months incarcerated in the hollow. To ensure the safety on chicks from predators a clay wall is contracted at the entrance to the nest that has a slit for the male to feed the nest inhabitants. The male comes to feed the nest roughly every 30-50minutes. Fruit, berries, small birds and large insects are commonly delivered. It was a surprise to see a snake being delivered.
