Great White Pelican Arriving With Pointed Toes For a Soft Landing Even With Totipalmate Feet
I visited the Djoudj Park November 2008 and January 2023. The difference? Adult great white pelicans were white and mating in November! In January their chicks were shockingly black! Curiously, all four of pelican toes are connected (totipalmate) possibly causing awkward flat-foot landings.
