Guardian of the Crypt
This photo shows a metallic knocker in the shape of a lion’s head on the door of a mausoleum in the Calvary Cemetery (Los Angeles, California). After a few hours of snapping photos on the grounds, I was on the way to my car and noticed a row of three mausoleums. On the doors of the middle mausoleum were the lion head knockers, suggesting an ominous intermediary, cautioning any visitor who approached its aging ingress of the voluminous grief that lied within.
