Guiding Lights These lights and similar ones are found throughout the Doha, Qatar Subway system. They symbolize the futuristic and dynamic vision for the State of Qatar. I was a full time advisor to the Qatar Foundation in 2014 when the digging started on the system. When I returned in January, 2020, the system was almost complete -- 45 miles of routes. One can travel the system for 2 Qatari Riyals, the equivalent of 54 cents. The trains are driverless, arrive within 3 minutes, and are virtually noiseless. The system combines affordability, impeccable engineering, and pleasing aesthetics.
