20th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Gulp!
I was walking around a small lake when I saw this heron slowly creeping into the pond. I watched as he lunged forward and grabbed this fish. He later gulped the fish down. It was quite impressive! I just wanted to show the size of the fish that the heron caught.
