20th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Gumbok Rangan
Seeing the milkyway with your own eyes is what you may call a breakthrough or a jaw dropping experience. Milkyway can be truly achieved only in complete darkness and stars are visible in light polluted areas. This image was shot in Ladakh in the Zanskar valley. Shooting the milkyway in the extreme cold climate and in high altitude itself is the breakthrough. We had to sit whole night waiting for the perfect shot.
