Over the past year, whenever there was a newborn in a household in Zengfang Village, relatives and friends would all join in the celebrations of setting off ‘baby fireworks,’ lighting firecrackers and letting them off into the sky to pray for the newborn’s safety and health and the family’s happiness and well-being.
