The Yellowstone experience has been remarkable. Reminding me constantly about what has always fascinated me as a life scientist. How did life, in all its diverse forms, originate? This photograph captures the ancient chemosynthetic bacteria, a living embodiment of the times when Earth's atmosphere was not oxygenic. Possibly a visit to the Yellowstone was the inspiration of Miller & Urey's experiment. The quest continues.
