This is a photo of a photo given to me by the Commandant of the Marine Corps in 2000. The original photo was taken on 1/26/1969 by Pfc C.E. Sickler, Jr. in Vietnam and is in the public domain. The Marine in the right foreground wearing glasses is 1st Lt Lee Herron, a boyhood friend of mine from Lubbock, TX. Lee was killed in battle on 2/22/1969, receiving a posthumous Navy Cross for valor and heroism.
