Happy Birds Happy Hour

The evening I arrived at my water-based lodge in the Okavango Delta, I was scheduled for a power boat ride on the very low water-level river just in front of the lodge. I was extremely excited because there were hippos easily spotted given the low water level. Elephants were all along the banks with their young. My head was in constant movement to take it all in as we moved along the tributary. As the sun was slowly setting, we arrived to a magical area with a variety of bird species, what seemed to me, having a happy hour...fishing. We sat for a while enjoying the activity of pelicans, storks, egrets of all sizes, cormorants with a lone elephant deciding to check it out on the outskirts as well. It was truly magical.
