Harsh scenery of Torzhok county town

There are places where the harsh climate and tragic history make up the sense of place. The county town of Torzhok was once a major trading settlement in Russia, but today it is gradually falling into oblivion. People move away to work, leaving entire streets abandoned, many monasteries and churches destroyed or in urgent need of repair ... and only the main attraction still lives and rises above the town - the great Borisoglebsky Monastery, which is almost 1000 years old ...
