Harvesting onion seeds under the sun
The flowers are white, the seeds are black, and the price is like gold. That is why it is called 'black gold' by the farmers and the people of Faridpur. From a distance, the onion seed field looks like a garden of white flowers. And the golden dreams of the farmer are hidden in the white flowers. This year, due to the lack of bees, farmers are doing hand pollination to increase production. Due to the favorable soil fertility and weather conditions in this region, the production of onion seeds has been bumper. About one to one and a half lakh taka is spent on onion seed cultivation per bigha of land. And 2 to 3 maunds of onion seeds are cultivated per bigha of land and each maund of onion seeds is sold for 2 to 3 lakh taka.
