18th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Hat Trick Act 1

I consider this a beauty portrait. I remember coming up with the idea of this shoot May 2019. I was sitting in my room thinking of bucket hat designs and one concept I had was to paint a sky full of balloons on one. So I thought for a moment "aye why don't I make balloons apart of the hat?". And I noticed that bucket hats have holes on the side of them and realized I could put the ribbons and balloons through there. My main goal with this shoot was to make that idea pop out which is why I choose black as the color of wardrobe. Also at first this was supposed to called untitled because I couldn't think of a way to make this meaningful and I remember a moment I was listening to a song by my favorite rapper Earl Sweatshirt titled "hat trick" and it reminded me of this shoot and I thought it was a cool name for the project.
