Heather and Ferns and Fog

This photograph is showing autumn in Ireland, just off the coast. The heather is still blooming purple, but most of the ferns have died and turned a burnt orange. The fog is typical of Ireland this time of year, or anytime of year, as it rains almost any day. These colors of the Irish landscape can be found woven into Irish basketry and in the making of various types of ropes or weaves.
