Helen, a cancer survivor with 35 surgeries to her face for reconstruction feeds pigeons on Boston Common. I was drawn to her surrounded by birds and began to photograph, as I did so I could see there was something different about her face but was focused on her expression. When I stopped she began to tell me about her experience as a cancer survivor.
