22nd Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Help me I am not a fish!

As a wildlife photographer, I spend most of my time along waterfronts. I discovered that countless discarded fishing lines not only pollute the environment but also endanger wildlife. Fish, birds, and turtles can become tangled or trapped in these lines. The image I captured shows a beautiful golden-crowned kinglet got trapped in a fishing line I hope this image will make fishermen realize that careful disposal of discarded fishing lines is vital to protect our wildlife and communities.
