Hermit Thrush and Fall Foliage

A late hermit thrush pauses for a moment on a birch log with autumn foliage as a backdrop. Fall 2021 was quite warm in Maine, and a number of birds dawdled heading south. A few straggling hermit thrushes can sometimes be found in Maine through the fall and into winter, but there were still a number of hermit thrushes hunting for invertebrates in mid October that year.
