In the 1990's Comuna 13 was named the most dangerous neighborhood due to violent cartels' and paramilitaries' actions. However, it's since become a vibrant sub-zone with outdoor residential escalators between painted homes, not seen elsewhere in the Americas, and is one of Medellin's most visited comunes with abundant opportunities of cultural education.
