Himebotaru crossing the stream
"Himebotaru" is a small firefly about 6-8 mm in length that lives in the forest. They emit a short, intense light like a flash. I have been researching and photographing this firefly habitat for 10 years. "Himebotaru" lives in the forest, so he is afraid of rivers and usually turns back instead of crossing them. However, in the latter half of the courtship season, they will even cross rivers to find a mate.
