Hippo gathering

The hippos finds a haven here, where the Munyamadzi river flows into the Luangwa River. When the two rivers meat, they create some turbulent water and pools. This particular spot is busy with hippos during the warmer months, when they crowd into pools deep enough for them to stay submerged and keep cool. During the night the hippos often leave the water to graze, consuming lots of vegetation. Luangwa valley, Zambia
