H.M.Krentz Rides the Wind
This image was taken from the Skipjack Wilma Lee during the 2024 Deal Island Skipjack Race. It shows the Skipjack H.M.Krentz sailing past the Wilma Lee to take the lead in the race. The winds were 15-18 knots with 25 knot gusts. Because the wind was so high the H.M.Krentz has reefs in both her mainsail and jib. So did the Wilma Lee. The H.M.Krentz is a working Skipjack that still dredges for oysters during the winter month. There are only 7 to 10 skipjacks left that still dredges for Oysters. The rest of the Skipjacks are museum/educational boats. Only about 24 Skipjack left
