This is our first 4th of July with my husband deployed while we are stationed here overseas here in Okinawa Japan. We are a Marine Corps family, and I wanted to send an image back to the states so family and friends could see we have not forgotten our roots. Being patriotic is at the heart of what service members do- and why they and their families make the sacrifices we do. We live out here, on the other side of the world from family, to support our Marine so he can do his best to protect our flag. The sun came out and the kids used the flag to protect their eyes and I captured this magical candid moment, as hard as it is to live overseas with my husband gone right now, we are proud to be American!
