Tahir T. was born in the Kazakh SSR because his parents, as well as majority of Karachay people, were falsely accused of collaboration with occupying German forces by the Stalinist regime and were deported from their historical homeland in 1943. Later he returned to his native land and now shares a smile on camera in the old village (aul) of Uchkulan, where his parents had lived before the tragic events of 1943.
