13th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Hummingbird Full Body

There are multiple varieties of hummingbirds that live in Southern California. Due to the drought this year, some are not able to migrate south to Mexico as they normally do. To assist them, I've set up feeders on my balcony; the only toll they pay is the joy they bring me in the photos that I get to make of them. They're such wonderfully colored little creatures, each with their own personality and coloring.
