Just thirteen miles outside of Newport Beach, my eight our whale watching tour came across a bait ball. There was only one Humpback Whale in the mix and the lunge feeding only lasted for 20 minutes. This image was one of the best shots from that experience. If you look closely, you can see the anchovies that managed to escape the whale's feeding and you can clearly see the whale's baleen.
