22nd Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Artistic
I am who I am

Kids today are exposed to overwhelming information, often unfiltered. When my daughter saw images of suffering children in Gaza on social media, she asked, "What did the kids do wrong?" It was heartbreaking. I explained the conflict and its complexities, but she simply shook her head, unable to grasp why innocent children suffer and cant just go to school or play. It's a tough conversation, highlighting the need for more guidance and context in understanding such difficult topics. This image was taken through my field camera which has a broken glass and convays the distance between us and them.
