“I first saw the sea in my homeland, behind the wall, as if stealing a forbidden glimpse. This is the second time in the Netherlands where no fences or barriers block the horizon. I cannot swim, yet through this photograph I tried to float between a besieged homeland and a free, unbound sea.”
