I feel I am able to face this thing
This photograph, a fragment of a larger collaborative project with artist Bella Jenkins, explores death from the viewpoint of my grandparents. In this photograph, I work to understand how it feels to be elderly and aware you are approaching the inevitable. This series was brought on by my experience watching as my other grandma took her last breath. A few weeks prior she had said "is Marissa going to be okay when I'm gone?" I found it remarkable that my grandparents thought of their death in terms of how it would effect those around them.
