Brickmaking furnaces across the river Ganges is a dying industry, facing competition from alternative building materials..still I found a few in outskirts of Kolkata on a Saturday. The poor labors make colonies inside the brickyard and stay there for a tenure of one brick making season. Despite the poverty and lack of modest facilities, I observed a lot of smiling faces telling they are happy.
