14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest The American Experience
Images of my father's work during the Civil Rights Era.
I had visited the Civil Rights Institute to donate pictures of my father, "Little Joe" Postiglione, to Mr. Wayne Coleman. I then went on to your the Institute. As I rounded the corner, I was stunned to see the remnants of the FREEDOM RIDER'S BUS. I stood there, transfixed, burst into tears, surreal. Surreal to see the subject matter of my father's pictures. Crying because this event has affected my entire life. Transfixed as I remember all of the events of the pictures of the Civil Rights Era, and of our seemingly racial division these days.
