Implicit Tensions

There was a major museum show of Robert Mapplethorpe in New York City in 2019 and posters advertising that were all over the public places including subway stations. NYC subways are notorious for being targets of vandalism and graffiti. There was one poster at 14th Street station that was vandalized either in protest to the subject that this photographer is famous for or simply for the pleasure of the act of defacing or vandalism. I shot the defaced poster with iPhone 6 and cropped to show the photographer's defaced portrait with just minimally selected text info to go with the resulting image.
