“In Thailand we eat everything”, this is what our guide told us on our kayak tour through the mangroves in Krabi, Thailand. As he explained, some years ago, you could find snakes, crocodiles and a lot of more monkeys in the mangrove forest. Unfortunately, he continued, the local people hunted nearly everything into extinction. Way too late, the government acted slowly in declaring the mangroves a protected natural reserve.
