In the field of (mari)gold

It was a day trip to Khirai, popularly known as Bengal's Valley of Flowers, on the banks of the river Kamsabati or Kamsai in East Midnapore in West Bengal. Come winter and the region explodes with various colors like yellow, orange, white, red all over as the farmers produce various ornamental flowers like chrysanthemums, marigolds, roses, cockroses etc., which are transported not only to different parts of Bengal but also to rest of India. From November end to mid February is the busiest period. Geniality of the local people was really very touching.
