In Their Steps—Rome’s Holocaust Remembrances
Rome’s streets memorialize the Jews who lived there and were killed in the Holocaust. The plaques next to the stones contain personalized information about individuals who were deported to Auschwitz and murdered. Jews have lived in Rome for over 2,000 years. These tragic memorializations of Roman Jews are a constant reminder to ensure that people stand up for human dignity and protect others, as well as to keep the Holocaust victims’ memories alive. Never again.
