Inca Tern

With its vivid red beak and elegant silver-white mustache, the Inca Tern perches on a royal blue roof—an unexpected throne for a bird of such grace. Classified as Near Threatened by the IUCN, its population is declining due to overfishing, habitat disturbance, and the collapse of anchovy stocks—its primary food source. As marine ecosystems face increasing human pressure, species like the Inca Tern remind us that even in altered spaces, nature continues to appear—quietly signaling both its resilience and its fragility.
