Inside a covered bridge

This photo was taken inside the Mary's River Covered Bridge. This bridge is an historical landmark located near Chester, Illinois. It crosses Mary's River. The bridge was built in 1854 and served road traffic until 1930. It is the only extant covered bridge in Southern Illinois and is on the National Register of Historic Places. My husband and I took a day trip to Chester, Illinois, to see the Popeye Museum. While driving there we saw signs for the covered bridge and decided to check it out. The bridge is beautiful and we were able to walk through it.
