Pronounced 'Al-Ḥamrā', Alhambra means 'The Red One' or 'The Red House' in English, and is one of the most iconic historical sites in Spain. Its construction began in 1238 by Muhammad I Ibn al-Ahmar on Sabika Hill, an outcrop of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range.
